Regenerative Thinking
At the heart of this entire project is circular systems. We simply can't keep practicing in a linear fashion. We've moved from post-industrialism to globalism but our organizational structures haven't kept up. Mission and purpose-driven work can play a bigger role in ROI than extractive behavior.
We need new units of measurement like value and benefit.
We need to incorporate those measurements into our goals.
We need to redefine what it means to lead and hold each other more accountable.
Most of all - we need better literacy and more meaningful definition.
We will dive deep into regenerative practices - making parallels to soil structure and bee colonies along the way. We'll illustrate the importance of incorporating technology models such as dMRV and EOV to help us confirm the environmental conditions we're establishing. We will explore new concepts like patient capital and apply it the built environment. We'll discuss and dissect Ecological Economics and explore how to return more value and benefit to the system we extract from it.
We will build better systems to create more resilient communities.
As with all natural systems, this project is emergent. The seeds have all they need. Our job is to provide the very best environmental conditions conducive to germination.
As my friend and colleague Charlie Graham says in our Open Innovation Workshop, "Every one of us has a hit song inside." It's our job to get that song out.
